Pierced lady 'scared to go home'

www.smh.com.au: "The Brazilian woman with the most body piercings in the world - 1,903 - fears returning to her crime-ridden home country as she would attract so much attention she could be robbed.

'The last time I went to Brazil, I had to wear a face mask because since I have a lot of jewellery [pierced to the skin], I fear being robbed or attacked,' Elaine Davidson said from Edinburgh in Britain where she lives.

Brazil has one of the highest crime rates in the world.

Davidson, who has been outside her home country for 10 years, won an entry in this year's Guinness World Records book after starting to pierce herself four years ago. In Edinburgh she runs a Brazilian restaurant.

She considers feeling pain a motivating factor in her life and says she also walks on beds of nails, fire and bits of glass.

'I like pain, I love pain,' she said, explaining that she now wants to exceed 2,000 body piercings.

Davidson has more piercings in her genitalia than in any other part of the body - 500 in all, externally and internally.

'It hurts in the chest as well,' she said."

Artist turns animals into everyday objects

Ananova - A Chilean artist is making a name for herself with an exhibition in which stuffed animals are transformed into household objects. Artworks on display include a chick turned into a lamp, and 'sheep bag' - a lamb carcass fitted with handles. Artist Caterina Purdy says her exhibition at the Experimental Arts Centre in Santiago is intended to be humorous but also makes a serious point. She told Las Ultimas Noticias online: 'It is possible to see my work as something scary, but I find it beautiful. 'There is also irony and humour in my objects as well as a criticism of the way animals are treated by society.'"

Josh Nimoy @ ITP - BallDroppings : "BallDroppings is an addicting and noisy play-toy. It can also be seen as an emergence game. My brother Marc takes this software seriously as an audio-visual performance instrument. Balls fall from the top of the screen and bounce off the lines you are drawing with the mouse. The balls make a percussive and melodic sound, whose pitch depends on how fast the ball is moving when it hits the line."
